A Little Thank You

If You Don't Try,You Won't Fail.

But you won't succeed either.

I've been telling myself this a lot lately. My market stall wasn't quite as great as I thought it might be on Wednesday. But I have to keep reminding myself that it isn't always about making money  (yeah right). Sometimes its about meeting that person that could have that much needed influence on your business. And othertimes its about taking a step back and re-assessing yourself.

I took the latter out of it, and have been thinking about what I need to change ready for my next stall there. Hopefully implementing these new ideas will help me a little, and I'll come back from the days work feeling a little more positive.

I have to admit, that I did come back from the day feeling a little deflated. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE what I do, but standing around in the freezing cold and wet and not really doing how you want to can get you down.

But the arrival of Thursday turned it all around.

If theres one thing I'm most proud of about my business, its the number of returning customers that I have. Afterall, if they keep coming back I must be doing something right.

And come back they did. Walking in the door after a loooonnnggggg day at the day job, 3pm somehow bought with it message after message of regular customers wanting cards. These are the customers that really keep me going, and I couldn't be without them. So I just want to say a quick Thank You to them. You know who you are!

Nervous!

Tomorrow (Wednesday) sees me at Peterborough City Market for the first time with Somewhere To.

And I'm nervous.

I have absolutely no idea why. After all, its just another stall, and I've done a LOT of those over the last year.

But this feels different.

I think its because its a complete unknown, and something that I REALLY want to do well at. I'm completely grateful for the opportunity, and so pleased that my birthday is at the end of the year so that it is something that I can be involved with (thanks for that Mum)~ I just can't shake these butterflies off.

Hopefully when I get there in the morning and am ready to trade (8:30, really, these people obviously haven't met me before) I will be feeling a little better, and I'm sure everyone else will be feeling the same.

And so as I sign out for the night, and put myself to be, I leave you with these lovely butterflies to match the ones I have.

Manic May

This month is going to be chaos for me and my little business!

I have a LOT going on, and bearing in mind that I have another business cleaning windows as the day job, i'm going to be extremely busy.

But I am excited about it! As alongside other events this month, I have three stalls at Peterborough City Market, thanks to the 'Somewhere To' organisation.

For those of you who haven't heard about it, its a venture aimed at 16-25 year olds (I JUST hit this), and providing them with a space to set up for free, to get themselves and their business out there. Do a bit of a google search if you like, and see how it is working in your local area!

My first stall through this is on Wednesday. AND I CAN NOT WAIT. I've been saying for a while that I would love to have a market stall, and this is an ideal way of giving it a go, and seeing how it might work out for me. Fingers crossed that its an opportunity that I can really make the most of, and that it sends some good fortune my way.

If anyone wants to come and see me, and lend some support, I will be there on Wednesday 15th, Friday the 24th and Tuesday the 28th.

I can also be found at a few other places this month. I will be at Woodston school (Tuesday 21st), Ramsey Spinning Infant School (Saturday 18th) Langtoft Trash and Treasure (Sunday 19th) and Waterville Hall (Sat 25th).

Don't forget if you are coming to see me and you would like to make an order to pick up, I can be contacted at www.facebook.com/craftylillel or www.craftylilllel.co.uk.

So like I said, busy month. Think I best go and crack on with some more, don't you.

A Wholes Day Crafting.

I've had a whole day crafting today. Well, almost.

If you discount the fact that I had to wash my hair (no excuses, it just really needed doing), that I had to go to The Range to get more cellobags, and then had to go and pick up the hubby from the pub, I actually got quite a lot done.

17 new cards to be precise. I even entered one into a 'first past the post' competition. Fingers crossed I'm the first one, but I won't hold my breath on that.

Fortunately, the weather in Peterborough has been VERY hit and miss today, or I may have found myself in the garden instead of doing what needed doing. Instead, I've found myself bound to my bedroom, head down in peace and quiet, and just getting on with it.

I'm quite proud that I made a good mix of cards today. I've made some cute girlie ones as I usually do, but I've also finally got around to making an Anniversary card ~ though now I won't get asked for one, and I've even made some of those tricky teenage boy ones too.

As always, they are all available to buy from my facebook page, www.facebook.com/craftylillel, and should be available from the website soon too.

Photos, as always are below.

Crafting Meme

So today I am taking part in my first ever crafting meme. Hopefully this goes well!

The idea is that you answer a series of questions, in this case all related to craft, then pass it on for others to complete too! I wil tag a couple of people at the end, so that they can complete it, and pass it on too! Please pop on over to their blogs as well once you are done.

What’s your craft ?

I make cards as a rule. But I also make gift bags, gift boxes and other general papercrafts.

Has anything you have crafted been featured in a magazine or book etc?

I haven't had anything featured in the magazine itself, but I have had a fab black and white Valentine card featured in the letters pages of Quick Cards Made Easy.

Are you mainly a seller or a gifter?

Definitely a seller. I can be found at www.facebook.com/craftylillel if you are looking to buy a handmade card.

What’s your favourite colour scheme?
I love using monotone in my cards. I find it simple, clean, and incredibly stylish.

Whats your favourite crafting season and why?
I would have to say Father's Day. Not as much is made of it as it is Mother's Day, but it really challanges me. I find it difficult to keep making mens cards, even though they sell well and it really pushes me to think of something new.

Your craft desk/space..is it neat, messy, really messy or ……….(in your own words)
I'm pretty sure mine is the same as a few more of you out there. You can't actually see my desk right now. If I tidy it it lasts less then an hour, and I can't find anything, so I just leave it as it is!

What got you into crafting?
I started crafting properly when I was getting married. Paying for the wedding ourselves meant that I made ANYTHING I possibly could. Including the table confetti. I've always enjoyed colouring and things like though, so it seemed like a natural progression. This is shown by the number of cards I make with hand coloured images, although I am always looking to improve.

Is their a crafter/blog or style you just adore?

I have a real love of Bugaboo images! Though I only really use their freebies, as I just don't have the spare funds to buy all of their fab images. As for blogs, I'm only just getting into blogging so don't really have a favourite yet.

What craft item are you saving up for or hoping to get on next craft shop?

At the moment I am trying my hardest to not buy anything new, and to use the piles and piles of items I have already. However, I AM always looking for new embossing folders, and really love some of the button ones I have seen around. Which reminds me ~ I really NEED more buttons.

If you were whisked off to the craft shop of all craft shops what section would you go to first?
Probably the pens. I LOVE them. It doesn't matter what they are. I have a growing collection of both promarkers, and sakura pens. But I also love basic gel pens, colouring pencils, water colours.

Lastly, finish this sentence……Glitter to me is……

The bane of both mine, and my husbands life. I use it a lot, but it doesn't half get everywhere!
